Are you ready for Something Different?

Howdy. My name is Matthew Williams, but some folks call me Bronco, and I’m running for Congress this year in the Great State of Alaska.

Folks, the amount of representation that we have in our government these days is not enough. Our representation has shifted to protect the interests of the wealthy, the elite, and those in power, and they’ve stopped protecting us.

That’s why I’m running for Congress this year. I’m running because what we have doesn’t work anymore. I’m running because we need Something Different.

The Good People of Alaska need a Representative in Washington who always keeps the Good People of Alaska in mind when they make their decisions. So if you’re lookin’ for a Representative that will actually represent you, then you’re lookin’ for Bronco.

About Me

Matthew Williams was born February 23rd, 1998 in Germantown, Tennessee, and is the oldest of three children. Raised in Olive Branch and Hernando, Mississippi, he went to Lewisburg High School, where he was active in service projects, played in the marching band, and served as the drama club president, graduating in 2016. Williams studied theatre at Northwest Mississippi Community College, creative writing and journalism at Arkansas State University, and secondary education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Originally planning to attend law school and run for public office, he started his teaching career after substitute teaching for DeSoto County Schools, the largest public school district in Mississippi, during a gap year at home from university. He quickly discovered a passion for education, as well as a fascination for working with the future generations of our society. He’s since amassed several years of teaching experience in public, private, and homeschool settings throughout Mississippi, Texas, and Alaska.

In 2019, Williams ran for a seat to represent Hernando in the Mississippi House of Representatives elections. He became the youngest person in state history to do so, declaring his candidacy on his 21st birthday, the second he was eligible to do so. The campaign was a largely grassroots movement, managed by Williams himself, who was a student at the time. He received the Democratic Party nomination and ultimately finished second in the general election. In 2024, again in his first year of eligibility, he announced his first campaign for U.S. Congress in Mississippi, running on a platform based on education, environmentalism, diplomatic foreign policy, workers’ rights, and criminal justice system reform, among other things. He finished second in the primary elections that year.

Independent of any party affiliation, except for brief periods during previous campaigns, he’s running as a completely Independent candidate for Alaska’s 2026 U.S. House elections.

Williams currently resides in Anchorage, Alaska, where he runs and hikes frequently, photographs wildlife, and teaches math, science, and social studies to middle and high school students at a private Christian school. He and his wife are active members of their Church congregation, where they work in the Primary and sing in ward and stake choirs.

A Truly Independent Candidate

Any time a new Independent Candidate steps on the scene, the number one question they’re asked by the Press is, “If elected, will you be caucusing with the Democrats, or the Republicans?”

Why is that the question? I’m Independent. If I was running in an election, and planning the whole time to just work with one of the two major parties in this country once I took office, why wouldn’t I just run with one of the two major parties to begin with? What was the point in maintaining that I’m separate, that I’m on my own, and that I’m doing my own thing? What was the point in trying to show everyone that I’m offering Something Different?

So, which side of the aisle am I on? The answer is simple. Neither one of them.

Neither side is good. The Democrats and Republicans claim that they’re different from each other, that they’re two opposing forces that disagree and can’t stand each other, but it’s all an act. They’re at each others’ throats in the media, hurling insults back and forth and bickering with one another over hot buzz-word topics when the cameras are rolling, but in the long run we can see this feud is strictly performative. Their animosities and their beef completely disappear when it comes to keeping the status quo maintained and protecting our current class structure.

So forget both sides of the aisle, I’m making my own section. Forget what side of the aisle I’m on, I’ll sit criss-cross applesauce on the House Floor if I have to. The United States is ready for an end to the de facto two-party system, and what the People need is an Independent Candidate. Forget the Democrats, Forget the Republicans. Let’s take our country back.

“So… What are you, then??”

I’m just Bronco, dude. I don’t concern myself with labels, or terms, or anything. With both parties working to maintain the status quo and prevent change, I see very little point in identifying myself as either one. And with the way that third party candidates are viewed and treated in our de facto two-party state system, I just feel like an Independent candidacy is what would benefit our People the most. So, that’s it, I’m just me.

The pieces of my Platform, and many of my beliefs in general, have bases in Scripture, and in our Nation’s Constitution. I believe in the United States as our Founding Fathers set out to create it: a United States where all of its citizens are created equally by our Heavenly Father, where we have rights that cannot be taken or infringed upon, and where everyone gets a say in how our country is run.

Don’t worry about what meaningless labels to call me, or what letters are next to my name. I’m Anti-Corruption, Anti-Establishment, and my platform is largely based on Christian values and the Constitution, but please, Just call me Bronco.

Anti-Corruption and Anti-Establishment, but Pro-Alaska

Ladies and Gentlemen, Folks and People, let me be clear: the people that we’ve elected to be our Representatives do not have our well-being or best interests in mind.

The Establishment, and those working as a part of it, are only working to maintain the status quo. There’s no change, no progress, no protection of tradition, or societal improvement. There’s only profits, greed, and backroom deals. The Establishment (“The Feds”, “The Government”, or “The Man”, or what have you) would lead you to believe that this isn’t the case. They’d like you to believe that we’re the problem. That the everyday, regular people who work hard to support themselves and their families, and only want better for their country and society, are to blame. There’s two narratives being pushed on the news here all the time: either that radical leftists and criminals are tearing this country apart, or that white supremacists and religious zealots are holding our country back from progress. Folks, let me be real with you, not a single one of these things are true.

Are there isolated incidents of some of these issues happening? Sure. Are some of these problems indicative of other systemic issues in our society? Yeah, maybe. But the fact is that our main enemies and oppressors are not our neighbors, or even other people in our community that we just happen to disagree with. It’s the ruling class, the wealthy, and the Establishment, all colluding, working together, meeting in offices together, and pretending that they’re two different parties that hate each other and disagree, while at the same time voting consistently to keep the same policies in place, and to keep our society exactly where they want it: stuck here and dependent on them, under their control. And like a lot of the regular people they keep stuck under their control, I’m sick of it.

That said, though, having very strong feelings about the Establishment, and about the Corruption taking place within it, doesn’t make me Anti-Alaska. Alaska’s still a very beautiful state full of very wonderful people, life-changing opportunities, and a lot to offer, and none of any of our Representatives’ wrongdoings over the years change that. Alaska deserves better, and her People deserve better. They want Something Different, and as a truly Pro-Alaska candidate, I’m hoping I can give that to them.

“Okay, but Bronco,” you say, “What makes you Different from all the others?”

Well, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. These Fat Cats in Washington are more concerned with their own interests and politics, than they are about their constituents. And as such, they’ve lost touch with what the Good People of Alaska need.

Not only that, but as a grade school teacher actively working in our schools, I see and witness firsthand what our children need, and as a real, everyday, working Alaskan, I know firsthand what real, everyday, working Alaskans need also. I personally believe this fits closer to what our Founding Fathers had in mind for our Nation’s Congress; between regular, average members of the community, and wealthy, retired, business executives with billions of dollars in Super-PAC money, who is the more representative voice of the People?

“But Bronco,” you say, impatiently, “How are you gonna do it?”

Well, I’m a teacher, as you may have heard me mention a few times, and as such, I’m a strong supporter of education in all forms. I firmly believe that quality education is a fundamental necessity for creating a brighter future, whether it comes from a public school, private school, or from being homeschooled, and I believe that we need to do more to ensure that wherever it comes from, our children are learning in safe, efficient, and actually educational environments.

But this isn’t just about education. There’s a lot that goes into building a brighter future, and education’s just one important part of it. I’m running on a platform that also includes criminal justice system reform, environmentalism, supporting constitutional rights, protecting workers’ rights, small businesses, wildlife, and agriculture, and much more.
